I put together a few pictures to show stick movements and when you are configuring your software with LCD
Note -I have a MODE 2 radio. If you have MODE 1 it is different (refer to alexinparis site)
Don’t be confused by my sewing thread I used to show lever input
Compared to a MODE 1 radio we have Throttle on LEFT stick – here shown in minimum position. all features are done in minimum throttle as a safety precaution.
Start motors to idle (you must set minimum value in code)
To turn off motors from idle…
Gyro calibration – position the copter on a flat – level surface. IF you only have WMP angle does not matter – If you also have NCK you MUST position the copter on a level surface(floor, desk, table) – the calibration is stored in EEPROM and in both cases – do NOT move copter until calibration is finished
The LED goes OFF and you must leave your copter during the process (abt 10-15 secs)
Then the LED will start blinking again showing normal loop working
This starts LCD when you have it connected – a great tool to alter configurations in the field
This is how you move around in the GUI, move elevator full down to go from P to I to D to yaw (full up to go backwards)
Move aileron left/right to decrease/increase values
NOTE: If you have the FULL LCD modified code you can change almost anything from here
Of course you want to exit your configuration. disconnect LCD and fly off…
A small dictionary…I had some initial problems with this…
- Rudder = Yaw
- Elevator = Pitch
- Aileron = Roll
Here is the latest Stick configuration as a PDF.

When calibrating the gyros, you say put it on a flat surface for those who have the NK installed. By flat, do you mean *level*?

I wonder if you could help , I have sexycopter board (multiwii) mostly set up but not yet flown. How do I set the mode switch on channel 5. I have tried adjusting via endpoints but no change on board????? Can you tell me how to switch between modes…Thanks

Hello!
I have no experience from the sexycopter boards but I assume they work like the others. Start simple – you can test the software without any RX connected, Some boards require power from other source than USB while connected to computer. When sensors are verified you connect the RX and verify in GUI that channels go the right way (reverse if needed). Make sure you have enough signal readings(1000-2000) or you will not be able to arm (what radio do you use, I have used Spektrum and must increase to 125%)
