About your mods - the kickback sounds like a cool idea - strip the vibration motor from a pager or old cellphone and activate it just like I do with the LED. Just make sure you do not use to much volts for the motor. About the threads - can you fill the old holes with glue and thread into the glue instead? Sometimes it works. God I hate you! LOL! I just put in the back light on mine. I muffled the sound with tape. But I really like what you did and now I just have to do that with mine. Although I might put a volume control for the sound and perhaps a vibration to replace it when off. Not sure about the back light switch, but might do it anyway.
